What Kind Of Foam Metal And Its Application?
Aug 16, 2022
Our metal foam includes nickel, iron, and their alloys. In addition, copper foam also has some room for development.
Nickel foam has high permeability, high specific surface area, and capillary force due to its connected pore structure and high porosity. It is mainly used as a functional material in the manufacture of fluid filters, nebulizers, catalysts, battery plates, and heat exchangers.

Iron foam can be used for water filtration because it is harmless to humans.

Fe-Ni alloy foam is mainly used in industrial desulfurization and denitrification, the aluminum casting industry, commercial kitchen fume purification, and other environmental protection fields.

Copper foam has good conductivity and ductility, and can be used to prepare battery anode (carrier) material, catalyst carrier, and electromagnetic shielding material. In particular, using copper foam as a base material for battery electrodes has some obvious advantages, but copper is not as resistant to corrosion as nickel, which limits some of its applications.
In addition, copper foam is light in weight and has the characteristics of sound absorption, heat insulation, vibration reduction, shock energy absorption, and electromagnetic wave absorption. Suitable for missiles, aircraft, rocket energy absorption devices and recovery parts (no residual after pressing), automobile buffers, mechanical and electrical damping devices, pulse power electromagnetic shielding, and other impact protection layer.
