Features of extra thick nickel foam

1. Lightweight. The more pores contained in a metal of the same volume and size, the lighter it is. When the porosity is 90%, most metals are lighter than the same volume of water. When the porosity reaches 90% or more, iron can become foam iron floating on water. However, the size of the pores and the distribution inside the metal is not uniform is also very important, otherwise, even if the porosity of the metal is high, it may not float. Therefore, how to make the pore size uniformly distributed, is a key and difficult problem in the manufacture of ultra-thick nickel foam. 2.
2. The strength decreases with the increase of porosity, and it is easy to have a large deformation under a larger pressure, so the super-thick nickel foam has a good function of absorbing energy.
3. Thermal conductivity decreases with the addition of porosity. If the porosity reaches 50% or more, the heat conduction is reduced tens of times. In this way, it becomes very slow to heat conduction.
In addition, ultra-thick nickel foam has better sound absorption characteristics in a wider frequency range, strong shielding electromagnetic waves and outstanding heat resistance.
