How do I clean range hood filters?
Oct 04, 2023
The kitchen range hood grease filters can be cleaned by hand. Keep in mind that many baffle filters are dishwasher-safe, so you can save time by running them through your next dishwasher cycle.
To clean filters by hand, first remove them from the range hood according to the manufacturer's instructions. Then, rinse them thoroughly under hot running water. Soak the filters in warm, soapy water for a few minutes to help break up any debris.
After soaking the filters, make a solution with equal parts warm water and mild dishwashing detergent. Fill a bowl or other container large enough to hold the filters with the solution. For 15 minutes, soak the filters in the soapy solution.
After 15 minutes, remove the filters and clean them with a non-abrasive brush or sponge. Thoroughly rinse the filters to remove any remaining grease and soap. To finish the cleaning process, pat them dry with a towel or place them on a drying rack. When the filters are dry, carefully reinstall them.
