What are the properties of Nickel Foam?
Jun 02, 2023
Sound absorption - Nickel Foam's porous structure makes it an excellent sound-absorption material.
Fire resistant - Nickel Foam can withstand temperatures in excess of 1100 degrees Celsius and is difficult to burn at such high temperatures.
Ultra-light material – The material has a surface area per mass of about 0.25, which is 1/30 of that of iron, as well as a surface density of around 350g/m2 and a porosity of 93% to 95%.
Easy to process – Nickel Foam is very malleable and can be cut, bent, and pasted.
Electromagnetic shielding - A 90dB electromagnetic wave can be shielded by a relatively thin layer of Nickel Foam.
Corrosion resistance - Nickel Foam, like nickel in its bulk form, is corrosion resistant, even at high temperatures, in natural freshwater, and in caustic alkalis.
