• Thanks to their unique cellular structure, which combines a high surface area, permeability and mechanical strength, they are ideal for demanding applications in metallurgy, aerospace, energy and environmental engineering.
• The metal foam filter is composed of an iron-nickel alloy composite material. It has high open-cell porosity, uniform pores, and good gas or liquid permeability.
• During the casting process, it filters molten aluminium to remove impurities, ensuring compositional integrity. It is commonly used in the production of aluminium ingots, billets, sheets, motorcycle wheels, cylinder pistons and other precision castings.
• The technology and product quality are both cutting-edge. outperforming stainless steel (316L), fiberglass (E-glass), and ceramic (Al2O3) filters, it provides superior slag and gas filtering, resulting in lower gas production. Working Principles in Filtration

- Mechanical Sieving:

Large particles (> pore size) are physically blocked by the foam's strut network.

- Inertial Impaction:

High-velocity fluid forces particles to collide and adhere to pore walls.

- Electrostatic Adsorption:

Charged metal foam surfaces attract oppositely charged contaminants (e.g., dust, ions).

- Catalytic Degradation:

Functionalized foams (e.g., Pt-coated Ni) break down pollutants via chemical reactions.

 

 

 

Aluminium cast filters ------ compared to other filtration methods

• Wire mesh filter

It is inevitable that the iron content in the aluminium alloy liquid will increase, which can adversely affect the mechanical properties of the product.

• Glass Fibre Filtration

A glass fibre filter with a small amount of resin can safely produce fuel under the high temperature requirements of alloy casting. However, the fibre mesh may not effectively filter impurities due to its characteristics, leading to the formation of pinholes, oxide slag holes, and other defects in the casting.

• Ceramic foam filters

The energy of foam ceramics depends on the ceramic fabric and the thickness of the community framework, which can pose technological challenges. Additionally, the fabric has poor ductility, increasing the risk of crushing and slag drop, which can be costly.
