Copper foam is an element that we use in chemical reactors to improve heat transfer.


It has high air permeability, almost all connected pores, a large specific surface area of pores, and a small bulk density of materials.


It is used in the manufacture of purification, filtration, catalytic supports, electrodes, and other devices in petrochemical, aerospace, and environmental protection.


Copper foam thickness from 1-35mm containing foam pores has a higher porosity and a larger pore size, which can reach 7-8mm, and is a kind of metal foam. Since the metal foam is a two-phase composite material composed of a metal matrix skeleton continuous phase and a pore dispersed phase or continuous phase, its properties depend on the metal matrix used, porosity, and pore structure, and are affected by the preparation process.


Generally, the mechanical properties of copper foam decrease with the increase of porosity, and its electrical conductivity and thermal conductivity also decrease exponentially. When the copper foam is under pressure, due to the increased force area and the material strain hardening effect caused by the collapse of the pores, the copper foam has excellent impact energy absorption characteristics and there is no surplus after pressing.
