Copper Foam Applications

Electrode material

Copper foam has excellent electrical conductivity, which makes it widely used as an electrode frame material for new batteries such as nickel-zinc batteries and electric double-layer capacitors.

Catalyst

In many organic chemical reactions, the copper foam functions as a catalyst, sometimes taking the place of perforated copper plates. The photocatalytic air purification process has also been successfully used to foamed copper as a carrier.

Thermally conductive materials

Due to its great thermal conductivity, copper foam performs admirably as a flame-retardant material. Additionally, copper foam is used to create materials for motors and appliances that dissipate heat.

Silencing and shielding materials

Copper foam is a very good silencing material. Sound waves will be diffusely reflected on the surface of the foamed copper, and the sound absorption effect is achieved through the principles of material expansion and microporous noise elimination. Cooper foam is also an excellent electromagnetic shielding material, and its shielding performance is close to silver.

Filter material

Copper foam works well as a medical filter material since it is safe for use on humans. The use of copper foam in water filtration technology also has a promising future.

Fluid pressure buffer material

The copper foam acts as a dispersing and buffering agent on the fluid, which makes it an ideal pressure-reducing protective device for different pressure gauges.
