Applications of Copper Foam
Nov 09, 2023
1. Catalytic Effect
Many organic chemical reactions are currently attempting to directly use copper foam with a large specific surface to replace the perforated copper plate as a catalyst for chemical reactions, as well as copper foam as a carrier for photocatalytic air purification, which is also more successful.
2. Electrode Materials
Copper foam, due to its high electrical conductivity, can be widely used as the electrode skeleton material for new batteries such as nickel-zinc batteries, double layer capacitors, and so on. Copper foam is expected to be promoted as an electrode collector for double layer capacitors; additionally, copper foam can be used as an electrode material for electrolytic recovery of copper-containing wastewater, which has a wide range of applications.
3. Devices for Sound Dissipation and Shielding
Sound waves are diffusely reflected on the surface of copper foam, achieving muffling effect through the principle of expansion muffling, microporous muffling, etc.; copper shielding performance is close to silver, is a good performance of electromagnetic shielding materials.
4. Filter Material
The structural properties of copper foam metal products, which are essentially harmless to the human body, have been successfully applied to medical filter materials; additionally, copper foam has promising application prospects in water purification equipment.
5. Thermal Conductivity Materials
Copper foam has been used in many advanced foreign firefighting equipment, especially as a flame insulation device, because of its good thermal conductivity and apparent permeability; in addition, people use the excellent thermal conductivity and apparent permeability of copper foam, made of heat dissipation motor, electrical appliances, and so on.
6. Fluid Pressure Buffering Materials
Copper foam has good fluid dispersion and buffering properties, making it an effective pressure release protection device for various manometers.
